I wish I'd had my www.makingmymovie.com website up and running for my first film 'Dark Summer'. There was so many things I was learning and experiencing from day to day which I could have passed on to other first time filmmakers. With my second feature film I've been able to do this. One of times I think would have been interesting would have been the year I spent on the festival circuit. It was a time of mixed emotions; from initially liking the film through to hating it and then back again... Funny enough it was the Q & A sessions that kept me going, a lot of Directors hate them, but I like meeting the audience... They are quite often more perceptive than critic...
With 'White Light' I've set aside this 'festival circuit' page to follow the film's progress through the post-completion period. I'll also be heavily updating 'my online diary' with how the film has been received and what I feel about it.

At the time I didn't know what hit me on my first film, in a way I made it for myself to prove I could direct. In the middle of editing, the London Film Festival heard about us and asked to see a rough cut, from that point on it was chaos trying to finish the film... From that London Film Festival 'World Premier' screening we had a flood of festival offers, so for the next year I was flown around Europe and the U.S. to about 10 festivals including Rotterdam, Götenborg, Emden, Bradford, Birmingham, Cherbourg, Oldenburger, Annonay and New York.
You can read more about my journey on 'the filmmaker' page.
"Two hours before the film was scheduled to be premiered at The London Film Festival, we were still waiting for Rank to deliver the final print. When it turned up, I was arguing with Sheila Whitaker, the festival's director, who wanted to pull it from the first screening, but I knew Rank wouldn't let me down. The premier went really well. So well, in fact, that another three festivals in Europe immediately booked the film." (continue)
(A complete list of reviews, script, credit list and production info. for 'Dark Summer' is also available at UIP Ltd. Alternatively you can watch the high quality QuickTime Movie Trailer, 11Mb\2min 30sec or view 64 of my favourite Stills, which I'm very proud of, taken direct from the 35mm Anamorphic print.)
